DJ Fresh praises Xolani Khumalo’s ActionSA mayoral nomination

Veteran broadcaster and podcaster DJ Fresh has weighed in on the buzz surrounding Sizok’thola host Xolani Khumalo’s nomination as ActionSA’s mayoral candidate for Ekurhuleni.

The announcement of Khumalo’s political debut made waves online, with many South Africans sharing their views on whether the TV personality is fit to lead.

DJ Fresh joined the discussion during episode 259 of his What A Week (WAW) PoliTricks podcast, where he shared his thoughts on Khumalo’s public image and leadership potential.

Speaking to his co-host Botsang Moiloa, DJ Fresh explained that he doesn’t see Khumalo as a celebrity in the traditional sense.

“I don’t think he’s a celebrity. I think he’s an activist who had cameras follow him around, and as a result of that activism, he has become famous and celebrated. But to just reduce him to celebrity, I think, is disingenuous,” he said.

The former Metro FM host went on to commend ActionSA for what he called a “master stroke,” praising the party for choosing someone who embodies service and accountability.

“Someone passionate about serving people and keeping people safe. And if ever there was a mayoral candidate or a person who was perfect for that, it’s him,” he added.
