Khanyi Mbau has officially unlocked a brand new chapter of her life.

The renowned actress and musician recently celebrated her 40th birthday. Taking to her Instagram page, the mother of one shared a picture of herself along with a beautiful note reflecting on the journey she has travelled.

The Happiness is a Four-Letter Word actress started the post by being the first to admit that she is not one to celebrate birthdays. However, with this being a milestone, it appears to have been an exception.

In the note to herself, she wrote:

“I honour you today in abundance, Khanyisile Mbau. Today, I bow before the vessel. Khanyisile, the body that carried my light, the name that walked through storms, laughter, and silence so that my spirit could learn, burn, and rise.”

The actress added:

“I do not celebrate birthdays; I honour endurance. Four decades of breath, beauty, and becoming. Thank you, Khanyisile, for housing my essence for keeping the flame alive while my soul remembered its wings.

“Here’s to the vessel that made it possible for the spirit to return home.”

Meanwhile, her younger brother Lasizwe Dambuza took the opportunity to share a post of his own in celebration of her special day.

“Happy Birthday Khanyi!” he captioned.

“We’ve been through so much, yet we always find our way back to each other, which is why you are my Bri to your Bry! Wishing you joy and peace in everything you do! You are loved, Khanyisile.”

Nominated for Best Actress

The recent celebrations come at a time when success is following the 40-year-old. Earlier this week, she received a nomination for Best Actress in a Film for her role in Meet the Khumalos, ahead of the National Film and Television Awards.
