The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed a major shake-up in its national team sponsorship, announcing that German sportswear giant Adidas will return as the official technical partner from January 1, 2026.
The deal will see Adidas replace current supplier, French brand Le Coq Sportif, whose contract is set to expire on December 31, 2025.
The agreement marks a significant and historic comeback for Adidas, which previously supplied the kits for both Bafana Bafana (the men’s national team) and Banyana Banyana (the women’s national team) between 1999 and 2011.
This period is fondly remembered by supporters, particularly as it included the iconic kits worn during the 2010 FIFA World Cup hosted on South African soil.
According to reports from SABC Sport, Adidas successfully won a highly competitive bid process, triumphing over major global rivals including Nike, Puma, Macron, and Kappa.
The German company is said to have impressed SAFA officials with its presentation and comprehensive proposal, securing an initial three-year contract with a mutually agreeable option to extend the partnership for an additional two years.
