Natural beauty: Bonang ditches the makeup!

South Africa’s most glamorous celebrity – Bonang Matheba – has ditched the heavy makeup and designer dresses to go natural in her latest Instagram post.

This comes several years after the businesswoman and media darling was criticised over a skincare ad campaign in a full face-beat.

BONANG PRAISED FOR GOING MAKEUP FREE

In her latest Instagram post, Bonang Matheba shared a look at her skincare regimen using L’Oreal products.

“My theme for 2025 is self-investment…I have been investing in my skin”, the 38-year-old proudly said.

Bonang appeared without a stitch of makeup, a rare look for the glamorous star.

In the comments section, the star was praised for her youthful looks and for being transparent with her fans.

The post differs from another ad campaign – using Nivea this time – in which she came under fire from in 2022.

In the ad, Bonang appeared to apply the product on her face, which was full of makeup.

Bonang has courted controversy by wearing makeup in an ad promoting Nivea skincare products.

‘WAITED TWO YEARS TO SEE YOU WITH NO WEAVE ON’

For the longest time, Bonang was known for never having a hair or eyelash out of place.

Following their break-up in 2017, the late rapper AKA infamously mocked his ex by calling her out on how she presents herself.

A few months after their split, the rapper was filmed doing a freestyle rap. Without mentioning Bonang, he rapped: “Waited two years to see you with no weave on”.

Bonang – who dated AKA from 2015 to 2017 – is known for her glamorous weaves and fabulous face-beats.

In fact, the only time we’ve seen her without her weave or makeup on was in a since-deleted video posted on her Instagram account. In the viral clip, Bonang was modelling a look for designers Quiteria & George ahead of her 2017 Durban July appearance. The star proudly rocked her bare face and natural hair, winning the praise of her followers and fans.

Sadly, Bonang deleted the video shortly after.
