Global hip-hop superstar Gunna is returning to South Africa this summer to headline the 2026 edition of the Milk + Cookies Music Week.

This is a major celebration of music, creativity, and culture.

GUNNA TO ROCK SOUTH AFRICA

The festival will take place from 24 December 2025 to 14 January, across Cape Town and Johannesburg.

The Atlanta-born rapper, known for his platinum hits “Drip Too Hard” and “Push Up,” will perform at Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town on 3 January.

He will then also perform at Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg on 10 January. Joining him are South African music heavyweights DJ Kent and Vigro Deep, according to IOL.

THE MILK AND COOKIES FESTIVAL

This ensures an electrifying fusion of hip-hop, amapiano and house that highlights South Africa’s influence on global sound.

Founded by four alumni from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Milk + Cookies has evolved from a local music platform into a global creative powerhouse.

Last year’s South African debut headlined by Kaytranada attracted over 20,000 attendees.

HIP-HOP’S LEGACY

Its return marks a deepening connection between Atlanta’s rich hip-hop legacy and South Africa’s thriving creative communities.

Chase Freeman, Co-Founder and Head of Marketing at Milk + Cookies, said, “We’re coming back to South Africa because it feels like home.

From the moment we landed, we felt how deeply music and creativity are woven into everyday life here.

SUPPORTING ACTS FOR GUNNA

With Gunna joining DJ Kent and Vigro Deep, we’re creating something that celebrates the connection between Atlanta and South Africa.”

Beyond the performances, Milk + Cookies Music Week will feature writing camps, mentorship sessions, and industry panels. These will all be designed to empower South African creatives.

ECONOMIC GROWTH AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Local brands will also showcase capsule fashion collections, with pop-up shops and community initiatives aimed at supporting economic growth and creative entrepreneurship.

Jhordan Gibbs, Director of Business Development and Strategy, emphasised the festival’s social impact.

“We’re committed to empowering South Africa’s next generation of creatives through hands-on programming. Real change happens off-stage – when we invest in people, not just performances.”

The 2026 Milk + Cookies Music Week reaffirms South Africa’s position as a creative powerhouse shaping global culture. Tickets go live on 10 October 2025, with prices available via Howler.
