Social media influencer Cindy Makhathini recently broke her silence and offered clarity on what caused her to crash into a petrol station.

Cindy shared that the unfortunate event took place on Sunday, September 28 when she lost control of her vehicle and drove into the petrol station.

Taking to her Instagram page, she explained that it started when her friend asked her to zip her dress up when they stopped at the petrol station.

“When we entered the petrol station, my friend asked me to zip her up. I stopped but didn’t put the car on park. I usually park before I do anything, but I don’t know what happened. I don’t even remember when my foot left the brake,” she said.

“The only image I remember is my friend’s face saying ‘chomi the car is moving’. I panicked, I don’t know when my foot moved from brake to accelerator. Everything went blank, I thought I was pressing the brake, but I was pressing the accelerator,” said Cindy.

The 25-year-old shared that she was not thinking about herself or the car at the time of the accident.

“I was only worried about the people in the car and the petrol station shop. It was so scary, I was traumatised, but people around us were so nice and concerned.”

Cindy also offered her apologies to the owner of the shop, and added that he was so nice and gave them water while they were speaking to the police. She also said that she was sober, and that if she was drunk she would have been arrested on the spot.

Earlier, she took to her Instagram page to share that her car sustained minor scratches, while the garage suffered significant damage. She added that no one was injured from the accident.

“I just crashed my car, not just crashed but crashed into a Sasol garage,” she penned, posting pictures of the scene. Luckily, no one was hurt. Also, my car was just scratched, but the damage I caused to the garage is too much. I am so lucky the owner was so kind and gentle with the situation,” she added.
