Jomo Sono will be involved in a top-of-the-table clash in the ABC Motsepe League on Sunday when his side, Jomo Cosmos, hosts Pele Pele FC.

The match will be played at Duduza Stadium, Ekurhuleni, as part of the club’s agreement with new partner Jobe Foundation.

Pele Pele, who play in the third tier, are Orlando Pirates’ development side. They are currently in second place in the league, two points behind log leaders Cosmos.

Although it’s still early in the season, a win for either side would significantly boost their bid to win the league and earn promotion to the National First Division. Sono, the owner and coach of Cosmos, is excited about the prospect of facing Pele Pele.

“It’s a big game for us,” Sono told FARPost. “It’s a top-of-the-table clash, and we know it will be a tough match.”

However, Sono is confident that his side will gain promotion to the second tier come the end of the season.

“First year, I was just learning the ropes, and to my surprise, we came in second position. Due to experience, I think they could have ended up in first position. Having spent a year there, I think they are experienced enough now.”

The match between Cosmos and Pele Pele will surely be a close and exciting contest. Both sides have started quite well and are determined to win.

Cosmos have won their two season-opening matches and are top of the table. On the other hand, Pele Pele won one and drew their other game.

Ezenkosi hopes to maintain their 100 per cent win record with another win. The winner of Sunday’s match will take a significant step in the quest for promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
