Tyla has made headlines with a record-breaking sweep of nominations at the 2025 Africa Arts Entertainment Awards.

The South African star received nods in eight categories, placing her at the centre of this year’s event.

TYLA’S NOMINATIONS

Her nominations include Best Female Artist, Best Female Songwriter/Lyricist, Best Female Recording Vocalist, and Best Female Showstopper Live-Performer.

She also scored recognition in major categories such as Song of the Year for her global hit Push 2 Start and *Best Music Video/Film for the same track.

TYLA’S LOVE FOR SOUTH AFRICA

Her collaboration with Nigerian superstar Wizkid, Dynamite, earned her a spot in the Best Collaboration category. Her soulful track Bliss secured a nomination for Best Afro-Pop.

Speaking about her success, Tyla shared: “It means a lot to be recognised at home, especially in so many categories.

South African music has always been powerful, and I’m proud to be part of this new wave, taking it to the world.”

PUSH 2 START

The singer has already had a massive year. Push 2 Start dominated international charts and streaming platforms, cementing her status as one of Africa’s leading voices, according to Okay Africa.

Her performances, both at home and abroad, have drawn sold-out crowds, underscoring her growing demand.

Critics note that Tyla’s recognition at the Africa Arts Entertainment Awards highlights the global rise of African music.

SOUTH AFRICAN MUSIC

Local fans are particularly excited to see a South African female artist competing in so many top-tier categories.

A cultural commentator summed it up: “Tyla carries the pride of South Africa on her shoulders. She’s not just competing; she’s leading the way for African music on the global stage.”

The Africa Arts Entertainment Awards will take place later this year, and South Africans will be watching closely to see how many honours she brings home.
