Manousakis Discusses Spurs Mandate – iDiski Times

Newly appointed Cape Town Spurs assistant coach Vasili Manousakis has revealed that his mandate is to keep the club in topflight football.

Spurs suffered their eighth consecutive defeat of the season when going down 2-1 to SuperSport United at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday.

It was also their first defeat under the leadership of Manousakis and Sean Connor, the Technical Director, who is currently acting Head Coach.

The Urban Warriors took the lead inside five minutes through Therlo Moosa’s header after a lovely cross from Luvuyo Phewa but Matsatsantsa came back through a brace by Bradley Grobler to seal Spurs’ eighth successive defeat.

Manousakis explained to the media that the mandate is clear the club has to remain in the top flight. He mentioned that he has done it with Richards Bay and he has to do it with Spurs also.

“There’s no mandate, the logical mandate is we want to secure our PSL status. The same mandate that I received at Richards Bay and that happened,” Manousakis said when asked by iDiski Times.

“It was obvious discussion and obvious scenario, and we want for this team to stay in PSL because it’s an incredible club with incredible history, incredible facilities and academy.

“There’s some of these kids that I’ve seen, and I’ve just arrived, are unbelievable seriously talented, so no mandate [but ] keep us in the PSL.”

The Urban Warriors are back in action after the international break when they will host Stellenbosch FC in a Western Cape derby.
