Kompany Praises Foster After Impressive Win

Burnley FC head coach Vincent Kompany has praised Bafana Bafana forward Lyle Foster after scoring his third goal of the season in a 2-1 win over Luton Town.

Foster made his return to the team after a three-match suspension, following a red card that he received against Nottingham Forest two weeks ago.

The former Orlando Pirates striker continued with his fine form as he scored the opening goal for the Clarets, just minutes before halftime.

Kompany praised Foster as he has hit the ground running this campaign, after struggling last season in the Championship, finishing the season with one goal.

The former Manchester City defender mentioned that there was a mental health aspect last season and Foster needed to get support.

“He looks a threat every time he plays, he took his goal really well and he also brings other players into the play so it’s promising for him, a promising start,” Kompany said after the game.

“He had a cramp. He sat three games out and he runs his socks off every game and it took a toll on him.

“There was a mental health aspect last season and he needed to get support for that, and he needed to feel at home and happy which is the biggest factor.

“He’s also a young player who has never played at this level and who’s slowly showing that hopefully, he’ll have a nice career in this league.”
