Noxolo Cesane and Bongeka Gamede scored in the 2-1 win against Copperbelt Ladies to help the University of Western Cape (UWC) open a 12 point gap at the top of the Hollywoodbets Super League log.

UWC have amassed 63 points in 23 outings while the rookies from Limpopo are 12th with 21 points from 25 matches.

In Pietermaritzburg defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies needed a last-minute equaliser against Royal AM to steal a point in their first League match since their successful CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifiers campaign in August.

Sundowns have a tough month ahead of playing catch-up as they are currently in second position with 51 points from 20 encounters.

Jerry Tshabalala’s charges must catch up while also preparing for the Champions League finals in the Ivory Coast in November.

JVW FC defeated Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) 3-0 in Pretoria to keep up with Sundowns ahead of them. The result means the Blue Diamonds maintain third position with 50 points even though they have played three matches more than Sundowns.

TUT are 11th on the log with 27 points from 24 games.

In a battle for survival, Thunderbirds Ladies sunk Ma-Indies Ladies into further trouble as they defeated the Limpopo side 3-0 in Gqeberha to move out of the relegation zone to 14th place with as many points from 25 matches.

Ma-Indies are rooted at the bottom of the table with only seven points from the same number of games. They are six points from their nearest rivals Wizards in 14th place however the Mpumalanga side has played two matches less.

Other results

  • City Lads 1-2 Richmond United
  • University of Pretoria (Tuks) 2-3 Durban Ladies
  • TS Galaxy Queens 5-1 Coal City Wizards
