Jwaneng Galaxy coach Morena Ramoreboli has praised South Africans teams for introducing young players, and said that while Relebohile Mofokeng missed a penalty as Orlando Pirates lost out to Galaxy, he showed potential to be a great player in the future.

Pirates exited the CAF Champions League losing in a penalty shootout after it had ended 1-0 at Orlando Stadium, for the tie to finish 1-1 on aggregate.

Ramoreboli was speaking about how the experienced players in his squad have been key for his team in guiding younger players, and said it was heartwarming to see Pirates give a promising player like Mofokeng opportunities.

While Mofokeng missed his spot kick, the former Maluti FET coach, believes the teenager will become a top player in the future.

“Some of the guys like Thabang Sisinyi has played at Platinum Stars. So he knows when you talk about pressure at professional level, he knows,” Ramoreboli said in the post match.

“And he becomes very important to the young ones. So at some point when things were becoming tough, we introduced Doctor David to try and control the space in the midfield.

“Naturally, he’s a right back. But we needed someone who can give us energy because this was one match that you can’t risk having more players that can have possession when you lose it and they can’t help you to defend.

“So we had to try and give these young boys an opportunity because I think that’s one part that South Africa has done well. They have given young boys an opportunity.

“If you look at Mofokeng. This is a big stage but he went in and showed that he has potential.

“Unfortunately, he missed a penalty, but honestly speaking he shows signs of a great player in the future.”
