Chippa United head Morgan Mammila has revealed that he saved chairman Siviwe Chippa Mpengesi from getting a lot of “annoying calls” this week.
It was the Chilli Boys’ first win of the campaign after losing to Mamelodi Sundowns and drawing with TS Galaxy and Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
Chippa moved into eighth place on the log, which is the target of Mammila and he insisted more teams will struggle against his resilient side.
“One thing for sure we [are] not an easy team to play against, teams can come, they will find us ready and this is the kind of performance that we [are] going to give the entire season. I just hope and pray that I finish the season with Chippa United,” Mammila told iDiski Times.
Mammila also revealed that whenever Chippa don’t win chairman Mpengesi receives calls from all angles of the country and he hopes that this week that won’t happen, as he won against Cape Town Spurs.
“One thing for sure I’m happy, because my friend is not gonna get a lot of calls this week. He will focus on his business,” he added.
“Because they annoy him with calls, and he is one person [who] gets annoyed very easily because they like calling him after the match, especially when we draw or lose, they like to call him.
“To be honest Chippa Mpengesi can be a nice president in this country, he can talk with anyone, he does [not] look [at] who you are, he is an open man.
“Unlike the other chairmans, I was telling other journalists in Durban, they don’t even know the phone number of Stellenbosch FC chairman, they will never even dare try to call him never, they are not even interested because they know they can’t even call him.
“But my chairman is easy, you can call him, he will answer, he is a gentleman he will answer, he is a football person. At least, this week he will focus on his businesses he is not gonna get a lot of calls.”
