Pearl Thusi sets the record straight on why she and DJ Zinhle grew apart

Pearl Thusi’s friendship with DJ Zinhle Jiyane has of late ignited a lot of speculation. Some said they fell out, while others whispered that the two didn’t have a fall out but they just grew apart. The outspoken actress, TV host, and mom has finally set the record straight on her friendship with the Umlilo DJ.

Falling Out

For years, the two have demonstrated unity as friends. Their children spent time together as ‘sisters’ and they went on holidays together. But suddenly it went quiet and they were no longer seen together for a great deal of time and instead, DJ Zinhle became closer and closer to rapper and fashionista, Moozlie. Pearl Thusi says they had a tiff, as all friends do, although they did not speak for some time, she still considers her a friend.

In a recent interview on DJ Fresh’s podcast, Pearl says, “Zinhle and I have always been friends. I consider Zinhle to be a sister, to be honest, and I have three sisters,” she says. “There have been many times when I’ve had a sister where we don’t speak for a year half, or a long time, just to give each other peace because we can’t seem to find some sort of equilibrium… We’re adults, we’re growing, we’re evolving, so sometimes we’re going to have moments we’re not agreeing on things.”

Living Separate Lives

Pearl says the dynamics of their friendship have changed with Zinhle being married and having another child. “I must say that our lives have evolved. There was a time you’ll see us together because we were living together,” she says. “Then she moved out. Now she’s married, she has another child… she’s been through so much. She’s building an empire. Here I am making sure that the empire is growing in the little way I can as well.” Pearl says they will always be connected. “I think there’s a microscopic energy towards us.
