Club Makes U-Turn Over Ex-Chiefs Talent Thibedi

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Given Thibedi could make a return to Casric Stars after initially not being in the plans of the Motsepe Foundation Championship club.

The 25-year-old signed with Stars in January and helped his side to finish third to secure a place in the DStv Premiership promotion play-offs.

But, after failing to secure promotion via play-offs, Stars decided against renewing the contract of Thibedi.

Initially, relevant people stated that ‘Manando’ was not going to return to Stars for the 2023/24 season.

However, news reaching iDiski Times desk is that Casric Stars made a u-turn and decided to bring back Thibedi on a one-year contract.

This comes after they’ve lost a number of their key players, including their top goalscorer Kgomotso Mosadi and Thabang Rakwena, who both joined Sekhukhune United.

The 25-year-old had a promising start to his career when he was promoted to Chiefs’ senior side, but unfortunately he could never really break into the squad permanently.

Thibedi joined Maswaiswai permanently at the beginning of the 2021/22 season from Amakhosi after an impressive loan deal en route to winning the Motsepe Championship Foundation and upon their return to the top-flight.

But after making just three appearances for Swallows in the first half of 2022/23, he moved to Casric, where he now seemingly continues his career.
