Seoposenwe Unveiled At New Club & Makes Debut

Banyana Banyana forward Jermaine Seoposenwe made her debut for her new side Rayadas de Monterrey in a 2-2 draw against her former side FC Juarez Monday night.

Seoposenwe came on in the 69th minute as a substitute with the result seeing Rayadas in fifth position on log with 14 points from seven matches in the Liga MX Femenil.

The 29-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Mexican champions in June before the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup with Banyana, where she was instrumental in helping South Africa get to the second round for the first time in history.

She said at her official unveiling that the move is an opportunity to win the league when asked what will be her biggest challenge at Rayadas.

“I don’t think there is a challenge, I think there is an opportunity for me to come and be a part of one the best team in the league, an opportunity to win the league,” Seoposenwe told the media at her unveiling.  

“That’s why I came here and that’s why Eva [Espejo] recruited me to come here. So I don’t think there is a challenge, I just think I’m here to add to the attributes that the team has already had and I hope I can be a positive contribution to the team and the plans of the team.

“I think as many titles as I can, as we can, as the team can. It’s about the team and what’s best for the team. So as long as I’m at Rayadas I’d like to win as many titles for the team.”

Her new coach Eva Espejo praised Seoposenwe for her professionalism and experience.

“It is important that she is here, welcome to Casa, to your Club. We want you to change Rayadas’ face, contribute your experience and what you have shown in the teams you have been in,” she said.

“It fulfills a profile of having played in Europe and having important international environments to continue growing and endorse our commitment to the Fans of fighting for the championship every season.

“What we saw from her in the World Cup is that she is one of the players who had the most participation in goal-threatening plays. Her professionalism, discipline and effort is very important for Rayadas.”
