Truter Hopes Mokotjo Gets Bafana Call-Up
Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter has praised experienced midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo and hopes that he gets national team call-up.
Babina Noko claimed their first three points of the season as they defeated newly promoted side Cape Town Spurs by 2-0 at Athlone stadium.
Spurs controlled most of the game but had only one shot on target with Jamie Webber and Mokotjo pulling the strings in the middle of the park for the visitors.
The 32-year-old joined United on a free transfer in January after spending whole of 2022 without a club. He has had a good six months, which saw him leading the club to their first ever cup final last season.
Truter believes ‘Kamo’ is the best deep-line playmaker the country has and Bafana coach Hugo Broos should consider him, especially with his experience of playing abroad for over a decade.
“I’m sure you could see the composure tonight, even under pressure. He brings us out nicely. It’s around him,” Truter told iDiski Times.
“But it’s the experience he picked up over the years playing in Europe, playing in USA. It’s there for everybody to see.
“He’s fit now. So I’m hoping that he will get a look maybe in Bafana as well, I think he is one of the best deep-lying playmakers number six’s in the country.”
