Orlando Pirates have confirmed that Thembinkosi Lorch is among the players who “could resume full training soon”, while Lesedi Kapinga and Karim Kamvuidi “are inching closer to their respective Bucs debuts”.

The Buccaneers have some minor injury worries with the likes of Kermit Erasmus, Miguel Timm, Vincent Pule, Kabelo Dlamini and Lorch yet to feature.

In addiiton, new signing Katlego Otladisa also picked up a knock in their opening defeat against Stellenbosch FC.

However, Pirates have now given a positive update, with several players close to returning to full training.

“Pirates have had a few minor injury worries early in the season, with key players such as Miguel Timm and Thembinkosi Lorch yet to feature this season, while new signing Katlego Otladisa sat out the home clash against Royal AM due to a knock picked up in the season opener,” the club stated on Friday.

“The trio is among those that could resume full training in the coming days, while the likes of Lesedi Kapinga and Karim Kamvuidi are inching closer to their respective Bucs debuts.”

Bucs’ fans are yet to see new signings Kapinga and Kimvuidi in the match-day squad but if Pirates’ latest statement is anything to go by they might just be included in the Jose Riveiro’s squad to face Sekhukhune United in the MTN8 quarter-final.

The coach confirmed that there is a lot of competition for places in his starting XI, which he feels will give the club a “competitive advantage”.

“I’m anticipating a very good season for Orlando Pirates, everybody is really working very hard, is very involved,” Riveiro said at the MTN8 launch.

“You can see the level in the training, everybody wants to be part of the starting XI, that’s where we are getting the competitive advantage for us.

“So I’m really looking forward to the next game and also expecting a good performance.”

The game kicks off at 18:00 at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
