Global music star Kanye West, now known simply as Ye, has confirmed a one-night-only concert at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg on December 13, this year.

The announcement, made directly by Ye on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, immediately sent excitement across South Africa and beyond.

Details shared by Central News South Africa highlight that this will be Ye’s only African performance in 2025, making the event a highly exclusive stop on his selective world tour.

The Ellis Park show marks Ye’s first performance in South Africa since his 2011 appearance at the Coke Zero Fest. With no other African dates scheduled, the Johannesburg concert stands out as a rare opportunity for fans across the continent to see him live.

Ticket pre-registration opened through Ticketpro shortly after the announcement. While official pricing and sale dates are still pending, fans are being urged to sign up early to secure access. The concert is scheduled to begin at 1pm local time, though supporting acts and the setlist remain unconfirmed.

Ellis Park Stadium, with its capacity of over 60,000, has hosted some of the biggest moments in South Africa’s cultural and sporting history, from the 1995 Rugby World Cup final to concerts by international heavyweights like Rihanna and U2. Its selection underscores Johannesburg’s reputation as Africa’s entertainment hub, with thousands expected to travel from across the region for the show.

Ye’s career, spanning 22 Grammy wins and collaborations with South African stars like AKA and Cassper Nyovest, has built strong ties with local audiences. The Ellis Park concert is expected to draw fans from across Africa, potentially boosting Johannesburg’s economy through tourism and hospitality spending.

With pre-registration numbers rising and anticipation building, Ye’s Ellis Park performance is shaping up to be one of the biggest music events South Africa has seen in years. For fans, December 13 won’t just be another concert date, it will be a once-in-a-decade chance to see one of the world’s most influential artists live on stage.
