  • He was widely recognised for his entrepreneurial contributions to South Africa’s business community and for his public profile.
  • The Mthembu family has asked for privacy as they grieve.

South African businessman and ANC Stalwart Mandla Mthembu has passed away.

His family confirmed his death through a statement shared with the media. He died on the evening of Sunday, 21 September 2025, at the age of 68.

Mthembu had been admitted to hospital after suffering a second stroke. Sadly, he succumbed to complications despite the tireless efforts of medical professionals.

Widely recognised for his entrepreneurial spirit, Mthembu was also “deeply committed to the values of the ANC.”

In a statement, his family expressed their profound grief and requested privacy during this painful time. “We kindly ask the public to allow us space to mourn the loss of a beloved father, brother, and friend.”

Details regarding memorial arrangements will be announced in due course. 

The Mthembu family extended their gratitude for the outpouring of support from the public during this difficult period.

Mthembu was previously married to South African media personality Khanyi Mbau. The two share a daughter.
