Kaizer Chiefs news: Three European coaches

Posted on September 20, 2025

What a week for Kaizer Chiefs. Nasreddine Nabi’s reported exit has dominated the headlines.

In the meantime, the Amakhosi bench is already attracting plenty of outside noise.

The job might not even be officially vacant, but European coaches are circling.

UPDATES ON THE KAIZER CHIEFS COACHING JOB

The big link is Pedro Gonçalves. Fresh from guiding Angola to the Afcon 2023 quarterfinals and then the 2025 COSAFA Cup title in South Africa, the Portuguese tactician has reportedly been approached by the Phefeni Glamour Boys and Al Ahly, according to outlet Cabine Desportiva. At just 48, his reputation across Africa is climbing fast.

FRENCHMAN AND SWEDE

Then there are the hopefuls. French coach Jerome Arpinon is said to be positioning himself quietly behind the scenes, while Swedish coach Melke Alan has gone public, saying he’d jump at the chance to lead the Kaizer Chiefs if the opportunity comes.

Neither has been contacted by Kaizer Chiefs yet, but their interest shows how valuable the role is on the continent.

So, while Gonçalves is the only reported link, two more names, Arpinon and Alan, are already angling for the big job. Amakhosi haven’t said a word, but the message from Europe is loud and clear: everyone wants a shot at coaching Kaizer Chiefs.
