About Babylonstoren

One of the first Cape Dutch farms, Babylonstoren is  a 200-hectare wine estate with Eden-like vineyards and orchards offering acres of fresh produce used by the farm’s two in-house restaurants. It is a leisure compound with whitewashed cottages, wine tasting rooms set in the Drakenstein Valley at the foot of the breath-taking Babel mountain.

Babylonstoren Archiving Internship 2022

The primary responsibility of the successful candidate is to provide assistance with cataloguing historic collections and inputting catalogue data into Babylonstoren’s content management system online.

Duties and responsibilities

• Provide support to the archivist with cataloguing historic collections including objects, photographs, archival documents, and books
• Assist the archivist with updating and editing catalogues
• Upload catalogue data to the online CMS (archival and library)
• Participate in relevant online training sessions about optimizing the use of the CMS

Who should apply?

Applicants must be able to meet the role’s minimum qualification and skills requirements as listed below:

• Holds a Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Library Science, History, or any equivalent field
• Excellent digital skills
• Preferably with experience working with digital content management systems
• Archiving or library system experience is a big plus
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Afrikaans
• Able to multitask and meet tight deadlines
• Attention to details, reliable, proactive, and productive in a small team
• Has own mode of dependable transportation and personal computer
