Limpopo Health MEC Addresses Incident at Maake Clinic After Viral Video

Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba has taken action following a viral video capturing a confrontation between a nurse and a patient assistant at Maake Clinic in Serare Village, Greater Tzaneen. The incident, which occurred on Sunday evening, has prompted an investigation by the Limpopo Department of Health.

In the video, a frustrated patient can be heard expressing her dissatisfaction with the prolonged wait for medical attention while the nurse appeared preoccupied on her phone, seemingly unconcerned.

The video quickly spread across various social media platforms, drawing public attention and raising concerns about the quality of care provided at the clinic.

MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba expressed her regret over the incident and promptly visited Maake Clinic to address the situation. In an interview on Newzroom Afrika, she emphasized the need for not only fact-finding but also rectifying the issues and strengthening the clinic.

During her visit, the MEC held a meeting with the nurse involved, as well as other stakeholders and staff members.

The objective of the meeting was to gather information, address the concerns raised, and devise strategies for improving the overall functioning of the clinic.

Limpopo Department of Health is conducting an investigation into the incident to ensure accountability and prevent similar occurrences in the future. Dr Phophi Ramathuba’s proactive response reflects the department’s commitment to addressing issues promptly and ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services to the community.
