Bafana Bafana defender Siyanda Xulu has announced his exit from Azerbaijan side Turan Tovuz.

Xulu, 31, made 25 appearances in the Premier Liga after joining the club in August following his exit from Hapoel Tel Aviv.

After his side finished in sixth place, Xulu was one of the players who left the club upon the expiry of his contract.

“It is with great sadness that I announce the end of an amazing journey with Turan Tovuz,” he wrote on social media.

“It’s a bittersweet moment for me because I had an amazing season with the team but unfortunately my contract has come to an end.

“I’m forever greatful to the team and the loyal fans I’ve made during my tenure. Thank you for the great experience and opportunity.”

Xulu, who has become a regular in Hugo Broos’ Bafana starting XI, becomes the second Bafana international who left his current club after Thibang Phete left UAE Pro League side Al-Bataeh CSC.

He was snapped up by Kaizer Chiefs’ youth setup in 2008 to join their development side before moving to Mamelodi Sundowns in 2009.

The Bafana defender returned to Kaizer Chiefs in 2015 following a stint at Russian side FC Rostov and after Chiefs he joined Maritzburg United before heading abroad again to Hapoel Tel Aviv.
