Manchester United have announced seven departures ahead of the 2023/24 season, while Mason Greenwood has been named on the club’s official “retained list”.
The Premier League giants had already confirmed that Phil Jones will leave Old Trafford after 12 years and 229 appearances for United.
Meanwhile, fellow defender Axel Tuanzebe, 25, will also depart despite having captained the club at every level since joining the academy as an eight-year-old.
Those were the two high-profile names on the list, while goalkeeper David De Gea is still in talks over a new deal.
His current contract runs out in the end of June but “discussions remain open with David De Gea over a potential new contract,” the club confirmed.
Meanwhile, Greenwood was named on the retained list, while the club are yet to communicate a decision on his future after he was suspended following the criminal charges against him relating to attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Those charges had been dropped in February after key witnesses decided to withdraw their involvement, but United are yet to communicate a decision on the player’s future, pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
