Casric Make Decision On Former Chiefs Talent Thibedi
Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars won’t renew Given Thibedi’s contract when it expires later this month.
The former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder joined Stars in January on a six-month deal after he was released by Swallows FC.
The 25-year-old had a promising start to his career when he was promoted to Chiefs senior side, but unfortunately he could never really break into the squad permanently.
Thibedi joined Maswaiswai permanently at the beginning of last season from Kaizer Chiefs after an impressive loan deal en route to winning the Motsepe Championship Foundation and upon their return to the top-flight.
According to our sources “Manando” has been struggling with off the field issues since his days at the Dube Birds but Casric gave him an opportunity to revive his career.
However, Thibedi didn’t play much for Casric, making only five appearances in the second half of 2023/24.
On Monday the club had one on one talks with players regarding their future and that is when Thibedi found out that Casric are not planning with him for the 2023/24 season.
“The club had one-on-one meetings on Monday with players, they had to make decisions on some players and unfortunately Given Thibedi won’t be coming back to Stars colours,” a close source confirmed.
“He signed a six-month contract with the club so his contract won’t be renewed at the end of Jun.
Casric finished third in the Motsepe Foundation Championship but lost all four matches in the PSL relegation/promotion play-offs, bowing out on the whimper without scoring a goal, and will have to try again next season.
