Mosimane Misses Out On Major Award

Al Ahli Saudi FC coach Pitso Mosimane has missed out on the Coach of the Season award, despite winning the Yelo League title in Saudi Arabia.

Mosimane, 57, secured promotion with four games to spare and won the league title with one game to spare after finding the “sleeping giants” of Al Ahli Jeddah in seventh place on the log after five games in the Yelo League when he took over.

He won two Coach of the Month awards for February and May, however, he missed out on the Coach of the Season gong, which instead went to Philippe Gouveia of second-placed Al Hazem.

Mosimane has since reacted to the omission, saying he achieved the most important targets throughout the campaign, which were more important that individual awards.

“Winning promotion way before all the teams and winning the League is very important for the team,” he wrote on social media.

“I value team than Individual achievements. I was recognised by being awarded Coach of the Month two times.

“God says, be happy with what I give you, don’t envy neighbours, avoid greediness, we shall share and I love all my children.”
