Casric Want To Halt Maritzburg
Casric Stars coach Joseph ‘Bucs’ Mthombeni has insisted his side will approach their final play-off game against Maritzburg United with professionalism and aim to get something out of the game.
Casric Stars had an impressive season and finished third in their maiden Motsepe Foundation League campaign.
However, they have been struggling somewhat to collect points in the Premier Soccer League relegation/promotion play-offs and are left with no chance to win the mini-league.
So far the Mpumalanga-based side have lost twice to Cape Town Spurs and the reverse fixture against the Team of Choice, meaning they only have pride and dignity to play for in their final game on Saturday.
Maritzburg, meanwhile, need a win to keep their hopes of rescuing their DStv Premiership status alive after Spurs raced to nine points from three games. They need another win at Casric, otherwise they will be relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
However, Mthombeni emphasised his side will not just role over against Fadlu Davids’ side on Saturday, hoping they can continue their good home record after losing just twice on their home ground this campaign.
“Record doesn’t say anything but at home our results are very good. Out of 16 official games we played there, we lost two, we drew three and won 11 but that doesn’t determine the game that is coming,” Mthombeni told journalists.
“I think Maritzburg is gonna come at us because they are more desperate. If any results don’t favour Maritzburg, Maritzburg is out, Shaun must just celebrate, the whole Cape Town.
“We gonna even play to get something out of this game we not gonna just go and honour the game.”
The game kicks off at 15:00 on Saturday.
