Messi’s New Club Revealed – Report

Lionel Messi has decided to join David Beckham’s Major League Soccer franchise Inter Miami, according to Guillem Balague.

Messi, 35, will leave Paris Saint-Germain once his two-year deal expires by the end of the month, as confirmed by the French giants.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner had a lucrative offer from Al Hilal to join the likes of Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia.

However, Spanish journalist Balague – who is also the author of Messi’s biography – has stated Messi will join Inter Miami.

Messi was keen on a return to FC Barcelona, as confirmed by his father and agent, Jorge Messi earlier in the week, but “the Financial Fair Play limitations that will be in place for next season in LaLiga made any ambitious plan to bring him back an impossibility,” writes Balague for BBC Sport.

As a consequence, Messi had to chose between Saudi Arabia and MLS and opted to take his first adventure outside of Europe to the United States.

“Messi was ultimately tempted to Major League Soccer side Inter Miami for a variety of reasons including lifestyle, and a deal with big brands that extends beyond football.

“He already owns a house in Miami, which he currently rents out. The former Barcelona player is set to reject a more lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.

“The Miami deal includes collaboration from brands like Adidas and Apple.”

In the MLS, Messi will soon South African players such as Njabulo Blom (St. Louis City), Bongokuhle Hlongwane (Minnesota United) and Tsiki Ntsabeleng (FC Dallas).

Inter Miami are the franchise owned by former Manchester United, Real Madrid and PSG winger David Beckham.
