Motupa Set For Sundowns Exit

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Gift Motupa is set to leave the club this transfer window and two years before his contract expires, iDiski Times has learnt.

The 28-year-old joined Downs at the beginning of the 2020/21 season from Bidvest Wits, but things haven’t gone as he had hoped.

Despite his contract only expiring at the end of June 2025, signs are set at his departure after he has stopped training with the club.

According to a close source, Motupa stopped training with Downs after the CAF Champions League semi-final first leg against Wydad Athletic Club.

He only made seven appearances in 2022/23 for the club, all of them off the bench, with his last coming in February in a four-minute cameo in the 2-2 at Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League.

Overall, he has made just 22 appearances for Masandawana, scoring three goals while setting up three more.

The former Baroka, Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits striker won three league titles, one Nedbank Cup and one MTN8 trophy at Chloorkop.
