Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter believes his goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare should have been considered for the Goalkeeper of the Season award.
Sangare has 12 clean sheets in all competitions; with 10 coming in 20 league matches and two in the Nedbank Cup helping Babina Noko finish in seventh position with 40 points, their highest since being promoted to the top-flight.
The Ivorian international also made incredible saves against SuperSport United as his side won 1-0 on the final day of the season in Polokwane.
The Limpopo-based outfit has qualified for the CAF Confederations and could seal the campaign in style if they win the Nedbank Cup against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.
Truter is pleased to go into the final with the 36-year-old on form who he believes deserved a nod.
“Ten clean sheets, I think it’s 11 or 12 if I’m not mistaken and he still doesn’t get the nomination for goalkeeper of the season,” said Truter
“He was flying tonight. There are some saves he made which I really thought SuperSport was going to get the equaliser.
“It was basically between him and Gyimah to get Man of the Match tonight. He has been working hard. He is an international keeper and he is going to the Nations Cup as well. You can’t ask for better competition, not forgetting to mention Toaster as well.
“He is another international for us for Zambia. So our goalkeeping department at this moment is very strong and we’d like to keep it that way. And Badra is unfortunate to not be mentioned for goalkeeper of the season but I’ll give him respect and congratulations.”
