Cape Town City forward Khanyisa Mayo has signed a new deal at club, the Citizens announced on Tuesday morning.

Mayo, 24, has been in red-hot form of late, scoring eight goals in his last nine DStv Premiership games.

He helped City to finish in fourth place, and finished on 12 league goals overall, which saw him share the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot with Peter Shalulile.

Mayo’s superb season hadn’t gone unnoticed and he was linked with moves to Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, with Amakhosi Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. confirming his club had enquired about the forward ahead of the 2022/23 season, but City owner John Comitis labelled him as “not for sale“.

However, he has now committed his long-term future to the mother city after putting pen to paper on a new deal until 2028 with City.
