In a heartfelt letter shared by the Instagram gossip account Maphephandaba, Kudzai Terrence Mushonga, who is allegedly Khanyi Mbau’s ex-boyfriend, revealed his battle with depression and the impact of his relationship on his mental health.
According to Mushonga, his relationship with Khanyi led him to isolate himself from close friends and family. The tumultuous nature of their relationship made this isolation even more apparent. He also claimed that Khanyi was controlling in their relationship.
Mushonga shared that his relationship with Mbau pushed him into a deep state of depression and brought him to the brink of ending his own life. At one point, he considered leaving his wealth to his family and girlfriend. He described a daily routine of working long hours, with minimal contact with the outside world, and stated that his mental health started deteriorating.
Feeling unable to step out of the relationship without disrupting the peace, Mushonga found himself losing the ability to communicate well with others socially.
He expressed feelings of being unloved, unworthy, and uncared for, with his emotions being dismissed when he tried to share them.
The situation took a toll on his well-being, leading to a sense of despair and a desire for it all to end. He described a slow, painful death inside, feeling isolated and disconnected from everyone, as he had given up his close friends and family for the sake of love. He recognized the sinking feeling of depression and the need for it to be addressed.
