Chivaviro In High Demand As Offers Flow In

Young Africans SC are leading the race for the services of Marumo Gallants striker Ranga Chivaviro ahead of next season.

The 30-year-old striker has enjoyed a whirlwind 12 months, after being released by Venda Football Academy, where he scored twice in seven appearances last season.

After a successful trial at Marumo Gallants, then-head coach Romain Folz signed the player as competition for Sede Dion and had bided his time for two months before his first start.

However, the change of coaching to Dan Malesela and then later Raymond Mdaka and Dylan Kerr, added to the January exit of Dion saw his fortunes change dramatically.

Since netting a brace in his first start, he’s scored 17 goals across all competitions, which includes seven in 10 appearances in the CAF Confederation Cup en route to the semi-finals.

iDiski Times understands over the course of his impressive form, Sekhukhune United, Azam FC, and Richards Bay all launched official offers for his services but Yanga are closing in on his services for the upcoming season after making inroads in negotiations.

Sources close to the club confirmed to this website that Chivaviro is enticed by them due to their participation in the CAF Champions League next season and the lure of chasing silverware across multiple competitions.

However, with the season just completed and Gallants having been relegated, Chivaviro and his representatives are keen to explore every option available and bide their time for the right move, from a career and financial perspective.

The club’s head coach Nasreddine Nabi was left impressed by the towering striker over the course of the competition and in their two meetings in the last four, with Chivaviro also scoring a consolation goal in the 2-1 loss for Gallants at Royal Bafokeng on Wednesday.

Should the move be completed to the East African giants, who are on course for a treble this season, it will mark the first South African to ply their trade in the NBC Premier League.
