Sundowns & Wydad Starting XIs Announced

Mamelodi Sundowns and Wydad Athletic Club have announced their starting line-ups for this afternoon’s CAF Champions League semi-final second leg at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

It’s been seven years since Sundowns made it into the CAF Champions League final for the last time.

This afternoon they have a chance to re-write history and reach the third continental final in the club’s history after 2001 and 2016.

Seven days ago Masandawana beat ZESCO United 2-0 at home after going down 2-1 in the away leg.

This time around, any home win will secure them qualification to the final, while a scoring draw would be enough for the visitors to book their ticket based on the away-goal rule, which is still intact in CAF after the first leg had ended in a goalless draw.

Wydad have got some good memories after knocking Sundowns out in the semis 2-1 on aggregate following a 2-1 home win and a goalless draw in South Africa in 2019.

The Botola Pro champions have never won against Mamelodi Sundowns on South African soil and they’ve only scored two goals in the last five visits.

Here is how they line up:

Sundowns XI: Williams, Mvala, Boutouil, Mudau, Modiba, Mokoena, Mbule, Mkhulise, Zwane, Morena, Shalulile

Subs: Onyango, Lebusa, Kekana, Mashego, Domingo, Zungu, Nasir, Sirino, Mailula

Wydad AC XI: El Motie, Amloud, Aboulfath, Zola, Attiyat Allah, Jabrane, Ounajem, Jaadi, Haimoud, Moutaraji

Subs: Mourid, Nadrani, Ait Allal, Ellafi, El Hassouni, Baaouch, Daoudi, Ahdad, Bouhra
