Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus has sent a message to supporters after scoring in their Soweto Derby win over Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup semi-final.

Erasmus, 32, has been subject to major criticism over the last few seasons since his move to Mamelodi Sundowns and return to Orlando Pirates for not yielding that prolific goal-scoring form expected of a player of his quality.

But over the years, he’s been known to hold big-match temperament and stepping up on the big occasions, which he duly rewarded head coach Jose Riveiro for his faith by scoring the opening goal at FNB Stadium.

He had already proven his big-match temperament with the important 1-0 in the 3-0 thrashing over his former club in the MTN 8 semi-final, which set Pirates up for their first trophy this season, as well as Saturday’s 1-0 in the Nedbank Cup semi-final, which opened the door to another piece of silverware.

After Erasmus was seen shushing Chiefs fans following his goal, he took to social media to celebrated reaching another final with the Buccaneers.

“Love my boys!!!!!!! Love the supporters!!! Love this Football Club. I know what it means to the fans. Enjoy it,” he wrote on Twitter.

Overall, the veteran forward has scored four goals and registered five assists in 22 games in his second stint at the Buccaneers thus far.
