Former Swallows FC and Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has won three successive games in Germany to hand his new side SV Meppen a real chance to save themselves from relegation.

Middendorp, who made a surprise exit from Swallows in March, collected his fourth win with Meppen on Saturday.

His side beat Rot Weiss Essen 2-0 thanks to goals by Marius Kleinsorge in the 34th minute and Marvin Pourie after 58 minutes.

Meppen are still in a relegation spot, but climbed from 20th when Middendorp took over into 17th on the log now.

They have collected 13 points in 10 games under Middendorp, while they only had 20 points in the 25 matches before the German tactician joined the club.

However, they are still five points behind the first non-relegation spot with just three games remaining, meaning Middendorp and his team need to push hard to complete the miracle.
