Tinkler Frustrated By Match Officials

Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler was frustrated by the time-wasting antics of Golden Arrows and the match officials not reacting to it after the goalless draw against Lamontville Golden Arrows.

In the first five minutes of the game, Arrows defender Gladwin Shitolo collided with City striker Juan Zapata and that led to Shitolo being substituted after some time on the ground.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwana was seemingly also cramping on the ground from early on the game.

Tinkler was furious after the game, claiming that at least a minimum of six or seven minutes should’ve been added after Arrows’ time-wasting tactics.

“The goalkeeper I mean we have professional athletes. How is your goalkeeper going down with cramp from the first five minutes of a game? I mean there’s no logic behind that,” Tinkler said.

“And as a referee I can see that even the reserve goalkeeper is not even warming up because if he’s got an injury go warm up the reserve goalkeeper, [but] they haven’t done that.

“So in the first five minutes he goes down with a cramp and then in the last five minutes of the game he goes down with cramp again and I think the referee, you need to act, this is obvious we can all see.

“Then I don’t understand, why they got this mouthpiece because I’m explaining this but they’re not using it. You know, the free-kick that happens right at the end is not a free-kick, Keanu wins the ball, the linesman can see it.

“So I don’t think the officiating today was fantastic. I think it was actually poor, time wasting, I think I counted at least six, seven minutes because remember, the goalkeeper was going down with cramp and there was head injuries.

“I mean, come on. It was at least another five or six minutes. That was wasted. Not two.”
