Khanye Makes Plea To Swallows Chairman

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has made a plea to Swallows FC’s management to hand caretaker coach Musa Nyatama a two-year contract as a head coach.

Nyatama has been in charge as the interim coach following the sudden departure of Ernst Middendorp last month.

This is the third time Nyatama is in this position this season, first when former coach Dylan Kerr couldn’t secure a work permit and then again when the current Marumo Gallants coach left.

Now, he is manning the dugout with the help of Technical Director Morgan Mammila and they have taken the Dube Birds from relegation threat to the top 8 with three matches to go, picking up an impressive 10 points from a possible 18 points.

Khanye says, if young international coaches can be given jobs in the league, the likes of Nyatama also deserve a chance, especially if they have proven themselves.

“Credit to Musa. I think the chairman must keep Musa,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“Teams like TS Galaxy are giving international coaches a chance, even the likes of Fohloza [Romain Folz], many coaches and they are the same age group as Musa. Folz is even younger than Musa by a couple of years.

“Musa has saved the team. The team was in the relegation zone, while being coached by an international coach in Ernst and Musa took it from the bottom to the top 8.

“So give Musa two years as a head coach, Morgan can continue as a General Manager and he can get his own assistant. I’m talking to the Directors give Musa a chance now, allow him to sign his own players to be able to play his philosophy.

“Tactically the guy has been spot on but their ball circulation, the way they are playing they are not creating many chances. He needs a couple of new players because his current team is young and the experienced players aren’t stomping any authority. That’s why the team was struggling.

“But tactically and being able to find ways to win Musa has been spot on and he needs to be a given a two-year contract, sign players, be in charge of preseason and start the new season with them.
