Marumo Gallants continued their dream run in the CAF Confederation Cup as they downed Pyramids 1-0 to book a spot in the semi-finals for the first time in their history.
A solitary goal by Celimpilo Ngema in the quarter-final clash at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg saw Gallants beat the Egyptian side Pyramids 2-1 on aggregate.
Gallants welcomed Pyramids with both sides looking to book a spot in the Confederations Cup semi-finals.
The Limpopo-based side came into this clash with an advantage after scoring an away goal in the first leg in Egypt.
Pyramids and Gallants played to an entertaining 1-1 draw last Sunday at 30 June Stadium in Egypt.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa have been in an impressive form in the Confederation Cup which saw them reach Knockout stages for the first time.
Gallants will be aiming to go all the way in the Confederation Cup showpiece and follow the footsteps of fellow South African team Orlando Pirates, who were in the final last season and lost to Moroccan side RC Berkane on penalties.
The match started on a slow pace with both sides failing to create real goal scoring opportunities.
MARUMO GALLANTS OPEN THE SCORING
Gallants threw the first punch and found an opening goal through Ngema in the 38th minute 1-0 lead on the night and 2-1 on aggregate.
Referee blew the half-time whistle with Gallants in the lead and with one foot in to the semi-finals.
Pyramids threw everything at Gallants early in the second-half and Fragie Lakay had chance to bring the Egyptians to level terms but be skied him ball off target.
Lakay came close to finding an opener for Pyramids in the 71st minute but his shot was parried away by Gallants goalie Washington Arubi.
Pyramids threw numbers forward in search of an equaliser later in the game but Gallants held onto their 1-0 lead to eliminate Pyramids from the CAF Confederation Cup.
