It’s game on in the Hollywoodbets Super League following the catch-up round on Freedom Day that saw University of Western Cape (UWC) move top of the log.

Khanya Xesi was superb for the Blues as she scored four goals in the 5-1 demolition of City Lads at Parrow Park on Wednesday.

Xesi scored in the ninth and 41st minutes in the first half, then netted again in the 62nd minute and in the 71st minute, while captain Bongeka Gamede scored the side’s fourth in between.

The result means Thinasonke Mbuli’s charges moved to 27 points on the log, two points adrift of defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies in second position, both from 10 matches.

After this round UWC also have the most goals 37, 18 more than Sundowns and the best defense having conceded just six times.

City Lads are now fourth from bottom on the standings tied on seven points with Coal City Wizards behind them also from 10 games.

In another catch-up fixture Richmond United and JVW FC played to 2-2 draw in De Aar. United remain in third position with 22 points from 10 outings, while the Blue Diamonds are seventh with 18 points from the same number of games.
