Senegal legend Khalilou Fadiga was spotted at the South African Football Association (SAFA) head quarters this week.

Fadiga, fondly remembered for the iconic 2002 FIFA World Cup quarter-final run with the Lions of Teranga was amongst the attendees of the U17 AFCON squad announcement.

His presence raised a few eyebrows and when asked by media of his visit, he stated it’s not something that was meant to be discussed publically yet.

“I’ll be here all week to exchange ideas with TD [Walter Steenbok], President Danny Jordaan and all the people from SAFA, to see a little bit how FIFA can help them,” Fadiga said.

“The FIFA talent, where Mr. Feisal Abdul is one of responsible with the former head coach Arsene Wenger is part of the FIFA Talent Development program – so we’ve arrived [Monday], we’ll be here all week.

“We were invited by the President Mr Jordaan and the TD Walter to come to this press conference, we weren’t supposed to talk but we’ll share this moment, it’s a good honour to be here.”

Abdul added: “We’re happy to have South Africa as part of the FIFA Talent Development Scheme that FIFA rolled out.

“So this is one of the regular visits we have to one of the member associations [of FIFA] to development and long-term strategic plans. It’s good to see how professional things are.”
