The internet is now more convinced than ever that English Premier League (EPL) clubs have a South African managing their social media platforms.

This comes as multiple European teams have learned to embrace the Amapiano genre by including it as the background songs to their football highlight reels on TikTok.

The most recent team to do so is Liverpool. The six-time European Cup (Champions League) winners have been known to share a special bond with South Africans. Not only are they closely associated with one of our biggest sporting exports, Siya Kolisi, but they have also proven themselves to be devoted listeners of the music that comes from Mzansi.

With a series of reels having been posted with South African hits, South Africans have since shared their thoughts.

“I know South Africa is THEE promised land, I just can’t prove it,” wrote one user, while another added, “Now I believe your Admin is South African, there’s no way (accompanied by a laugh emoji)”.

Meanwhile, Liverpool is not the first English team known to have found a liking in the popular African genre; their opposition team, West Ham United, does too.

Many are now speculating that perhaps the social media manager of the opposition team has decided to switch allegiance.

“The way Liverpool signed so many players this season, they even signed West Ham admin.”

In 2020, Portuguese captain Cristiano Ronaldo earned the favour of millions of South Africans after he uploaded a video featuring the Master KG hit song, Jerusalema, to his Instagram, while the video shows him celebrating at a birthday party with friends.
