The next chapter of HBO’s acclaimed anthology series The White Lotus is heading to France, sources have reportedly confirmed.
While HBO has yet to make an official announcement, insiders say that series creator Mike White and the network have chosen the country as the backdrop for the highly anticipated Season 4.
Production is expected to continue the show’s tradition of luxury, intrigue, and murder – this time with a French twist.
French Riviera in the Spotlight
Although no specific location has been finalised, speculation is swirling around the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, a glamorous Four Seasons property nestled on the Cap-Ferrat peninsula along the French Riviera.
With its proximity to Cannes and its history of attracting Hollywood royalty, the resort would align perfectly with the show’s lavish aesthetic.
HBO maintains a longstanding marketing partnership with Four Seasons, whose properties have doubled as White Lotus resorts in all three previous seasons – Hawaii (Season 1), Sicily (Season 2), and Thailand (Season 3).
However, as with the most recent season, insiders note that multiple hotels may be used throughout Season 4, not just a single Four Seasons location.
Other French Four Seasons Hotels on the Radar
In addition to the Cap-Ferrat resort, Four Seasons Megève in the French Alps and Hotel George V in Paris are also under consideration.
Each offers a distinctly different setting:
- Megève offers a luxurious Alpine escape – though it may be ruled out due to Mike White’s aversion to cold and snowy settings
- George V would bring The White Lotus into an urban, romantic environment, marking a departure from the show’s typical beachfront vibe.
Of the three, Cap-Ferrat most closely mirrors the tropical luxury seen in previous seasons – even if, technically, it’s not located directly on a beach.
Season 4 Details Still Under Wraps
Location scouting was initially scheduled for early spring but was delayed to summer 2025, as White took a well-earned break after the production of Season 3, which recently garnered 23 Emmy nominations.
White previously hinted at wanting a slight shift in aesthetic for Season 4, saying: “For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves and rocks vernacular – but there’s always more room for more murders at The White Lotus.”
It remains to be seen whether that vision will play out in France’s diverse luxury landscapes – from the sun-drenched Riviera to the snow-covered Alps or the romantic streets of Paris.
HBO has declined to comment on the location speculation.
