Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu has revealed what the team has been working on in training after failing to win in their previous two games.
The 2022/23 DStv Premiership champions have struggled to find the back of the net lately. They were held to 0-0 draws by Cape Town City and Swallows in their previous two games.
Despite dropping points and firing blanks, the only positive from the previous matches was keeping clean sheets.
Prior to the second last game, the last time the Sundowns avoided conceding a goal was in February against Al Hilal in the CAF Champions League.
BONGANI ZUNGU REVEALS WHAT MAMELODI SUNDOWNS HAVE BEEN WORKING ON
“At training, we were working on how to score goals because that’s something that’s missing at the moment. The training was just about that,” said Zungu.
“The team has gotten to winning games, game after game. In the two last games, we didn’t win, but there are positives. We didn’t concede.
“We still have a long way to go. We have the CAF Champions League, the Nedbank Cup, and we want to win games.”
FOCUS ON GOLDEN ARROWS
Zungu further shared his thoughts on their next assignment on Wednesday. They’re on the road to face seventh-placed Golden Arrows, who are aiming to cement their place in the top eight.
“Good team; they’ve been performing well recently. They won their last game and got good players on the team.
“It’s a game that we want to win. We want to bring back that winning mentality because we don’t want to relax just because we won the league already.
“So for me, it’s just to focus that whenever I get a chance, I kill it, do my duties to try help the team as much as I can,” he added.
