Pitso To Chiefs: This Brings Me Down With Humility

Pitso Mosimane has expressed his gratitude to Kaizer Chiefs after they opened their doors for his Al Ahly squad to prepare for their CAF Champions League clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.

In a decision that notably divided opinion on social media amongst South African football fans, it was something that no doubt got tongues wagging as Chiefs welcomed the African champions to Naturena Village.

The Red Devils who beat them in the Champions League final 3-0 last year received a warm welcome, and the hospitality for South Africa’s most supported club saw both clubs and Mosimane trend on social media.

Ahly represents the most successful and most supported club in Africa and large sections of their fan bases basked in the welcome from Amakhosi, which will undoubtedly open doors for good relations moving forward.

“Coach this is our pride, we want to say we see ourselves as brothers,” Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr. said when presenting Mosimane with a gift during their photo sessions.

“We are in awe with what you have achieved and this is a small token of our appreciation, also from the chairman and we wish all the best in your endeavours.”

Mosimane, who has not hidden the fact that he supported the club growing up admitted the welcome was something he did not take for granted and revealed he holds Kaizer Motaung’s previous gift close to his heart.

“This brings me down with humility but the bigger one is that the chairman gave me the jersey and he gave me a special one, that one I have in Cairo, thank you very much,” he said in response to Motuang Jnr.

The Club of the Century are set to face Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a must-win clash to keep their hopes of winning Group A alive.
