Nomfundo Moh Ngcobo has recently released her single Amalobolo starring Big Zulu and is about to release her whole project titled Ugcobo. Let’s mention that Nomfundo has been nominated twice for the 23rd Metro FM Awards, which will be held in Mbombela.

“This means a lot to me. It boosts my confidence because it means that my music is being recognised and appreciated by the right ears. My team and I put a lot of effort to make my brand work.

“It means my efforts are being recognised and I just want to keep on pushing so that good things can come my way,” Nomfundo said.

With the release of her debut album, Amagama, she has developed. She claims that the spotlight and popularity have given her tough skin and taught her not to be a pushover.

Nomfundo Moh Ngcobo says, ”The music industry is no child’s play. It requires you to be strong and to remain focused on your goal.”

Since her debut, she has received both love and hate. “I have overcome a lot of challenges, one of them being bullying, social media hate almost broke me. I received a lot of hate from people calling me ugly, some criticising my size and petite body type. People criticise things that I have no control over,” she adds.

“That hits differently compared to something that I have control over. Had they been judging my make-up or hair, then I would understand because I can change a hairstyle or fix the makeup and move on but when I get criticised for something I can’t change, it hurts.

“That shattered me a lot. I sat down and wrote a song titled Ndabazabantu to encourage myself and to tell people that, being the way I look doesn’t not mean I am happy. I also wish to one day gain some weight and have a bit of a hip. But I can’t control it, and I am happy with the way God made me,” Nomfundo says.

Nomfundo says that all she wants to do is heal people with her music. “I am not here because of my looks or for a beauty competition but to serve a purpose and that is to heal. People must not focus on me but on the music. Before fame, Nomfundo lived a quiet and peaceful life.”

Part of Nomfundo’s recent achievements includes being graduated with a degree in Social Work, and purchasing a house, and a car in the last two years, “I have been so blessed to achieve all those things before I am 25 years old,” she said.

She added, “I have my family that is supporting my every decision. My final years of studying were difficult because that is when my career blew up I released Phakade Lam and I needed to do my practicals.

“Luckily, I had a supportive team, and family, the people I reported to were understanding and had to always update my mentor. It worked out in the end.”

One of her yet to be fulfilled ambitions is to tour her album Ugcobo across the country and then to the rest of the continent, the United States, and Europe, “I want to gain international features, but everything happens in its own time,” she said.
