Kerr Explains Disastrous CAFCC Trip

Marumo Gallants Technical Advisor Dylan Kerr has opened up about their nightmare trip to Libya in the CAF Confederation Cup this month.

A few days ago, we reported the problems that Bahlabane Baa Ntwaa faced on their way to Libya when they went to face Al Akhdar in match day five.

Gallants who went into the game already qualified even though the players didn’t know that and only technical team members knew.

The experienced Kerr explained that things didn’t go well from the start, he also emphasised that they will need to be more prepared going to the quarterfinals.

“We left South Africa on Saturday afternoon because there were some difficulties with flights. Before we left we were told the game has been postponed and it will be played on Monday.” Kerr told iDiski Times.

“When we landed in Libya it was a different story, we were told to play the game right after we touched down. Remember we spent 16 hours in transit in Turkey without food. You can imagine.

“We’ve learned a lesson, It was a disastrous trip we had only 13 players and one of those players was coming back from an injury (Toure). We cant do things like this in the quarter-finals. We must change our way of doing things.

“We came back on Thursday, I told my players to rest we come back on Monday. I told them we have seven cup finals coming up, everybody needs to save their job.”

Gallants face Linafoot side Saint Eloi Lupopo next at Dobsonville Stadium next Sunday.
