Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

A. Yellow level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms resulting in localized damage to property and short-term disruption is expected over the areas along the Lesotho boarder in the Free State.

B. A Yellow Level 2 Warning for Winds leading to localised disruption of small harbours and/or a port and difficulty in navigation at sea is expected between Cape Point and Mossel Bay from the evening.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Z.F. Mgcawu district municipality of the Northern Cape.

Temperature and UVB forecast

Gauteng:

Temperature: Fine and warm.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Fine and warm.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Fine and warm to hot.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers except the extreme east.

Free State:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered along the Lesotho boarder.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Morning fog patches along the coast, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm but hot in places in the north, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated thunderstorms in the extreme north-east from the afternoon and isolated showers and rain along the south coast in the evening.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light northerly to north-easterly in the south in the morning, otherwise moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly, becoming strong in the south-west towards the evening.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half – Partly cloudy and warm, becoming cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north and extreme east in the afternoon, but light rain in places along the south coast.

The Western half -Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate westerly, becoming moderate to fresh south-easterly from late morning.

The Eastern half – Cloudy with morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm. It will become cloudy with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the extreme west.

The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south easterly, becoming moderate to fresh north-easterly by evening.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm but cool in the extreme south-west with scattered showers and thundershowers in the extreme south-west, otherwise isolated except in the north-east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south-easterly but easterly in the extreme north-coast.
