Pitso Reveals National Team Dream

Pitso Mosimane has revealed that he hasn’t given up on his dream to coach at the Africa Cup of Nations or FIFA World Cup with a national team.

The South African tactician is currently on track to gain promotion with Al Ahli Saudi in the First Division in Saudi Arabia after leading his team to the top of the log.

Al Ahli are the fourth club of his illustrious coaching career, while he has also been in charge of Bafana Bafana between 2010 and 2012 after initially serving as assisting to both Joel Santana and Carlos Alberto Parreira.

However, after failing to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations Mosimane departed Bafana and started a very successful reign at Mamelodi Sundowns, which has since seen him become target at international level.

He has now, though, that the thorn of not winning anything at national team level is still sitting deep and he’d like to get another chance to proof himself.

“Well, there’s nothing wrong to do a national team again. It’s always, it’s something on my plate, it’s an unfinished business for me, to be honest,” he said during a recent Pitso Diaries session on his Instagram.

“Because that’s the only place I never won a trophy. So, why not? So maybe that’s a thorn in the flesh for me. So, maybe [winning] an [African] Cup of Nations. You never know, anything can happen.

“Or if we dream big, an African team winning the World Cup. It’s possible. So, there’s always possibilities. You can never say never, it is open.

“I would love to, especially now that there’s an opportunity for 11 [African] teams in the next World Cup. I mean everybody has a chance there.”

Mosimane Reveals Best Coaching Experience

“Best coaching experience? They vary, they come in different ways,”

“Sometimes you say this and then next year something bigger comes. So I would the best coaching experience is my first day as a coach in the Premier [Soccer] League with SuperSport United.

“So you move on and then you go to the best coaching experience as Bafana coach, moves on [to] Sundowns, it’s a big team and Al Ahly Masry, and now this one.”
